Why can’t I find what I’m looking for?

How long will my ad be online?

After you purchase an ad it will remain online for 30 days.

If your item sells before the ad expires, you have the ability to delete the ad under you’re “My KingSell” area.  Deleting the ad will remove it from our database and it will no longer be online.

If your item does not sell within 30 days, you will receive an email offering the ability to renew your ad for another 30 days at a reduced price.

Once your ad expires, it will no longer be viewable online, but will remain viewable by you in your “My KingSell” area for 90 days past the expiration date. This allows you to access any and all offers made for the item in case the sale transaction falls through and you want to contact the next lowest bidder. Return to top

How do I search for what I’m looking for?

We have three different ways to search for items:

1) Quick Search: You can do a Quick Search and jump right into it.  In the purple bar type a keyword or words, enter your zip code, and choose the distance you want to search within.  As soon as you click “GO!” we will do the rest.

2) Advanced Search:  A quick search might produce more results than you expected, so we give you the ability to narrow things down and get specific with our Advanced Search.  Click Advanced Search in the main navigation.  From that page you can enter as much or as little search parameters as you need.  Once you click “Search” we will do the rest.

You also have the ability on the Advanced Search page to save your search parameters as a WatchDOG! Email Service search.  That way we can do the searching for you…night and day.

3) Browse by Category:  Finally you can do the broadest search and browse everything available in a category by clicking the Category Tab placed just above the Quick Search bar.  This will produce the maximum results. Return to top

Searching Tips:

If you continually search for the same item, let KingSell.com do the search for you.  Save your favorite searches as WatchDOG! Email Service searches and we will email you when your item becomes available.

How to narrow your search:

Start with two or three keywords.  KingSell.com uses a search system, which returns results that contain all keywords in some form.  For example, if you enter, “Red, BMW, manual” then only ads which contain all three words will be returned.

Try different search words:  If your first search doesn’t return the results you wanted try different descriptive words.  Many items can be described in multiple ways.  For example a T.V. might also be listed as a Television or a Couch might be listed as a Sofa.  Think of how you would list the item if you were selling it and try multiple combinations of terms.  Use only two or three words at a time because KingSell.com will only return the ads which contain all the words in some form.

Use specific words instead of general ones:  If you are searching for a particular vehicle, type in the specific model name that you know an owner would list.  For example, if you type Acura many different cars would appear.  But if you know you want an Acura “Integra,” chances are the seller is going to list the term “Integra” and by using this specific word you narrow your search.

Tell us where to search for Keywords:  The default for our Quick Search is to search in an ad’s, Title Phrase, Initial Description, and Full Description.  This can produce a large number of results as sellers write complete and detailed Full Descriptions of their item for sale.  In our Advanced Search you can choose if you want us to search in all or any combination of these three areas.

How to expand your search:

Search in more areas:  In our Advanced Search you can choose to search for keywords in an ad’s Title Phrase, Initial Description or Full Description.

Use singular and plural forms of words:  You will likely get different results if your search for an item using both its plural and singular forms.  However, do not use them both at the same time as our system returns ads that contain all of your keywords in some form.

Try different spellings for words:  You can find spelling differences if users utilize language accents like (á) in a word or if they leave them out.  You will also find differences such as in a color description like “gray” or “grey”.

Browse a Category:  If you’re not sure what to call the item you’re looking for, click on a Category Tab and then any corresponding sub-category links to see a broad listing.  As you scroll through the ads you may spot the item you were looking for listed in a way you didn’t expect. Return to top

Selling Tips:

Choose an appropriate Category and Sub-category:  This is important, as it will eliminate a great deal of confusion for the user searching for your item.

Develop a good Title Phrase:  Your Title Phrase is a very important part of your ad.  Next to the Main Display Picture, it is the first element users see as ads appear on their screen.  You get to choose it, so choose wisely.  It can be a single word or several words.  Put yourself in a buyer’s shoes.  What would you want to know about the item?  What is it usually called by others?  What are its most important or appealing characteristics?

Develop a good Initial Description:  Your Title Phrase needs to be short and specific.  You can use the Initial Description to list additional details about your item that goes beyond what your Title Phrase provides a potential buyer.

Pictures:  The more pictures and the more detail you can show will help your selling process.  Take the pictures in a well-lit area. Crop in on the item and don’t show a lot of background unless it is necessary to explain or enhance the item.  Fuzzy and dark pictures hurt an ad.  Make sure your pictures are bright and clear.  For your Main Display Picture, choose an image that best represents the item you are selling.  Show the entire item, not a portion of it.

Verify Spelling and Accuracy:  Nothing will do you more harm then if you spell your item’s name wrong.  If there are multiple ways to spell your item’s name, then list the alternate versions under the Keywords area or in your Full Description.  Most searches will look at these areas and pick up the variation.  Also check that all your contact information is accurate.  If you enter your phone number incorrectly you won’t receive any calls concerning your item.

Communicate with Buyers:  If a potential buyer emails or calls you regarding your item, make sure to respond to them as quickly as possible.  Answer any questions they may have.  If they remind you of some detail you forgot to list in your ad, then go to your “My KingSell” area and edit the ad and include the additional information.

Honor your Agreements:  As the seller, you are not obligated to sell your item if you did not receive an adequate offer.  However, you should honor any agreement that you make with a buyer in good faith and within mutually acceptable conditions. Return to top

Buying Tips:

Don’t Assume:  Ask questions about the item you are interested in.  Never assume something that the seller doesn’t make perfectly clear.

Research the Item’s value:  Look at similar items on KingSell.com to help determine an item’s worth.

Determine the maximum amount you are willing to pay:  Decide how much you want or need an item, and also how difficult it will be to find another one.  Then you can determine the highest price you are willing to pay.  Don’t place an offer on an item unless you are willing to purchase it for that amount.

Don’t wait too long:  Auctions have time limits, and many times you can wait until close to the end to make an offer.  Classified ads are only limited to the time the seller wants to wait for the right price.  So don’t wait too long to show your interest in an item.

Honor your Agreements:  As the buyer, you are not obligated to purchase the item if you find the seller has misled you regarding the item.  However, you should honor any agreement that you make with the seller in good faith and within mutually acceptable conditions. Return to top
